A message from our Lead Instructor

Hello Aspiring Sailors and Dreamers,
 

I'm Johnny Mercer, the Lead Instructor at Sailing Scholars, and I'm thrilled to share with you the voyage that led me here.
 

My journey began at the Jackson Park Yacht Club, USA, where I served as the director of their charitable sailing program. There, I witnessed the transformative power of sailing, opening its doors to those who might never have had the chance to experience the freedom of the seas.
 

The call of the ocean led me to circumnavigate the globe, an expedition that not only tested my skills but also deepened my appreciation for the vastness and beauty of our waters. This adventure was more than a personal challenge; it was a journey of discovery, revealing the universal allure and lessons of sailing.
 

Following this, I worked with a charity in the UK, again focusing on making sailing accessible to all. It reinforced my belief that sailing is more than a sport; it's a platform for growth, learning, and opening new horizons.
 

This rich tapestry of experiences inspired the creation of Sailing Scholars. Our mission transcends traditional sailing instruction. We are dedicated to introducing students, especially those new to sailing, to the joys and lessons of the sea. But our vision goes further – incorporating culinary skills, community service, environmental stewardship, and, importantly, nurturing leadership and teamwork.
 

At Sailing Scholars, we believe sailing is a metaphor for life. It teaches resilience, adaptability, and the beauty of working together towards a common goal. Join us, and let's set sail on a journey of discovery, learning, and personal growth.
